1. Get a song fast. Press Randomize… under Ideas (an experimental feature we are still working on), choose a preset, mood and lengths, then Generate. It builds drums, bass, chords and a melody that fit together. Results can sometimes sound odd, so feel free to edit the notes afterwards.
2. Press Play (or the Space bar). Drag the green marker on the ruler (playlist or piano roll) to choose where playback starts. Song plays the whole playlist. Pattern loops only the pattern you are editing.
3. Change the notes. In the piano roll, click to add a note and click a note to delete it. Pick the instrument above the roll. Snap to scale keeps you in tune.
4. Arrange the song. Open Playlist, choose a pattern in the left panel, then click slots to place it. Click a slot again to remove it.
5. Mix it. Open Mixer to set volume, left/right position, brightness and mute for each instrument.
6. Keep it. Save stores a project file. Export WAV downloads your song as audio (Export ZIP gives a zipped copy). Ctrl+Z undoes, double-click a pattern name to rename it.

Words you will see. A pattern is a short loop of notes. A bar is one measure, 4 beats. The playlist arranges patterns in time. The key and scale decide which notes sound right together.
